San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 4, 2006) - The two-time ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats opened the 2006 Arena Football League free agent signing period by agreeing to contract terms with three players, including former NFL draft pick offensive lineman MICHAEL 'Mookie' MOORE, the club announced today.

Also agreeing to contract terms were lineman BARRETT ALLEN and fullback SHAWN WILLIS. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Moore (6-2, 318), an offensive lineman out of Troy State, had spent parts of the last six seasons in the NFL with Washington, Denver, Atlanta and Green Bay. Originally selected by the Redskins in the fourth round (129th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft, Moore played in five games, including one start, during his rookie season. He spent the next two seasons with the Broncos before signing with the Falcons in 2003.

In 1999, the Fayette, Ala., native started all 11 games at left tackle at Troy State. He played three seasons at right guard for the Alabama Crimson Tide before transferring for his senior year.

Allen (6-2, 265) played on the defensive line with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of arenafootball2 last season posting 10.5 tackles, 6.5 quarterback sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss in just 11 games to earn second-team All-af2 honors.

During his senior season at Abilene Christian University, Allen was named the team's Defensive MVP, was an All-Lone Star Conference selection and earned NCAA Division II All-West Region accolades after amassing 41 tackles, five quarterback sacks and 14 tackles for loss.

A bruising fullback, Willis (6-1, 265) played four years (2002-05) at Oklahoma State University shifting from the defensive line after his freshman season. Willis played 38 games for the Cowboys totaling 413 yards and nine touchdowns on 87 career rush attempts.

A three sport star at Flatonia (Texas) High School, Willis signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent last May.

The SaberCats are a premier franchise in the AFL, having captured two ArenaBowl titles, six Western Division championships, seven consecutive playoff appearances and owning the league's best regular season record this decade. San Jose will begin its 13th season in the AFL next February.
