
SaberCats open playoffs with Noon game on August 3rd

SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 20, 2002) - The San Jose SaberCats will open the 2002 Arena Football League playoffs with a quarterfinal game at the Compaq Center on Saturday, August 3 at Noon.
The SaberCats earned the No. 1 seed and a first-round playoff bye by establishing a league record with 12 straight wins to start the season. It is the second time in the last three seasons that San Jose has earned the top seed.
The contest will be televised live by ESPN.
San Jose plays its final regular season game of the season against the Carolina Cobras on Sunday, July 21, in a nationally televised contest. Game time is set for 11 a.m. (PT) from the Raleigh Entertainment & Sports Arena and will be shown on The New TNN tape-delayed at 2 p.m. (PT).
The first-round of the 2002 AFL playoffs start the weekend of July 27-28. The SaberCats will host the lowest remaining seed from the first round.
