San Jose SaberCats News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Apr. 14, 2005) â The San Jose SaberCats today announced a number of roster transactions in preparation for tomorrow night's game against the Eastern Division leading Dallas Desperados.
The club activated from injured reserve rookie WR/LB Yardon Brantley, who was placed on IR March 26 with a hamstring injury, and FB/LB Chuck Reed, who missed the last two games with knee discomfort, to the active roster.
To make room on the roster, rookies DS Tremain Mack, OL/DL Rex Richards and FB/LB Steve Warren were placed on IR. This is Mack and Warren's first stint on IR this season and Richards' second. They will be eligible to return to action on Apr. 29 at home against the Nashville Kats.
The club also announced the signing of DS Wendell Davis to the active roster from the practice squad. Davis, a four-year AFL veteran, was with San Jose from 2002-04 before joining the Grand Rapids Rampage in the off-season. He returned to San Jose on March 1 after being signed to the club's practice squad.
Thus far, San Jose has had 23 different players on IR at one point or another during the season, while only 10 players have avoided spending time on the shelf.
