San Jose SaberCats News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. (May 25, 2007) - In order for the San Jose SaberCats to clinch a playoff berth this week, they must do something they have never done before.
The SaberCats (8-3) take on the Central Division Nashville Kats (5-7) tonight at 5:00 p.m. (PT) at the Sommet Center live on FSN Plus and KNBR 1050 in the Bay Area with an opportunity to clinch their 8th consecutive postseason appearance. However, it won't be an easy task.
San Jose has never won in Nashville going 0-4 all-time. "It won't be easy," said SaberCats head coach and general manager Darren Arbet. "They have had our number and are playing well right now."
The SaberCats will try to extend their 5-game winning streak without the services of leading receiver and last season's Rookie of the Year Ben Nelson, who was placed on injured reserve with a leg injury yesterday. The club activated all-purpose specialist Rodney Wright to take Nelson's roster spot.
Nashville has won the last three games and is 6-2 all-time in the series against San Jose. The Kats were 51-48 winners in the last meeting between the clubs on March 25, 2006.
The SaberCats return to HP Pavilion on Friday, June 1 to host the Orlando Predators. Tickets for that game are available through any Northern California Ticketmaster outlet, by phone at (408) 998-TIXS, online at Ticketmaster.com or at the HP Pavilion box office.
