San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (April 18, 2003) - In preparation for Saturday's showdown with Indiana, the World Champion San Jose SaberCats today activated receiver/defensive back Anthony Cobbs off injured reserve and signed quarterback Bob Bees to the practice squad, general Manager Terry Malley announced.

Cobbs (6-1, 196, UCLA), one of the team's top defensive backs, has missed the last three games after sustaining a concussion against Arizona on March 23. He was placed on injured reserve March 26.

Despite missing those three games, Cobbs still leads the team and ranks 2nd in the league with four forced fumbles. His five pass breakups rank him 3rd on the team and he also has 10.5 tackles and an interception.

Bees (6-3, 216, Rocky Mountain) had been the SaberCats' backup since the start of the year but was released from the 24-man roster on Wednesday when the team signed Kevin Daft. He was signed to the practice squad and will serve as the team's emergency quarterback.

Cobbs is expected to be in the lineup when the SaberCats host the Firebirds on Saturday, April 19. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets for that game and all remaining home games at HP Pavilion are available and can be purchased through all Northern California TicketMaster outlets and at the HP Pavilion box office.
