Janesville Jets News Release

The Janesville Jets, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Ryan Williams has changed his commitment and has chosen to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

"I'm excited for this new chapter in my career. Can't Thank my coaches and teammates enough for helping me achieve my goal. And thank you to everyone in Janesville for everything over my two years as a Jet" Williams said.

Ryan Williams, the Pleasantville, Ohio native, has known the NAHL season in the Janesville Jets community for two years now but has always known his start in organized hockey, he originally knew the Ohio Blue Jackets as his team. Williams has always known the Ohio program as it started a seven-year relationship that developed him into a talented defenseman today.

Enter the 2022-23 season. It's Williams' first as a Jet after he signed a tender with the team in December of 2021, and he's already made his presence known both on the ice and on the scoresheet. During this past season, Williams played in 28 games, he had two goals and 21 assists to his name, with his lone goal on the power play, and boasts a +11 rating. Williams' 6'3″ frame serves as a great asset to an already intimidating blue line, and his ability to see the entire ice surface exiting the zone and set up plays displays the things you love to see in a defenseman.

Williams' commitment comes at the end of the season after changing his commitment from Miami University to RIT. As Williams starts his new journey in collegiate division I hockey, he has made a statement in the Janesville community. "The Jets have helped me tremendously," said Williams. "The biggest of thank you's to my teammates pushing me to be better and better every day. Without them I don't see any of this happening. Janesville has developed me as a player and person in only a couple of months. I'm excited to see what the future holds."
