San Rafael Pacifics News Release
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The San Rafael Pacifics independent minor-league baseball team has announced that manager James Frisbie has resigned due to health concerns. Pacifics hitting coach Ryan Priddy has been named manager for the duration of the 2013 campaign.
"It's an unfortunate situation but we respect Friz's decision. The entire Pacifics family wishes him the best of luck during this time," said Pacifics President and General Manager Mike Shapiro. "Ryan has been with us during Spring Training and through this first part of the season. He's demonstrated a passion for the game that we believe will carry over onto the field with our players."
Priddy, who played for Frisbie with the Sioux City Explorers the last two seasons, will have his first chance at the managerial level. The Loveland, Colo. native is entering his eighth season of professional baseball. Priddy played collegiate baseball at Colorado State University Pueblo.
"I got thrown into the fire a little bit," Priddy said. "They [the players] saw me first as a player, then as a hitting coach, now as a manager. The guys saw that I was ready to strap it on and compete with them."
The Pacifics remain on the road this weekend with two games this weekend versus the East Bay Lumberjacks and one game versus the Santa Rosa Rose Buds. On Tuesday, June 11, San Rafael returns home to Albert Park for Opening Night. Tickets are still available for the team's six-game homestand versus the Vallejo Admirals.
