Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Wednesday that they have signed Ryan Munce to a contract for the 2008-09 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Ryan is a solid goaltender that has a calming effect on the entire bench," stated Sea Wolves head coach Steffon Walby. "His ability to slow the game down and stop the puck allows the defensemen in front of him to grow throughout the year. We're very excited to have Ryan back in the Wolves' Den this season."
A native of Mississauga, Ont., Munce was selected in the third round (82nd overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and was 19-16-0 with Mississippi last season. After playing three seasons and 136 games with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League from 2002-2005, where he compiled a 55-56-14 record with a .912 save percentage and a 2.98 goals-against average, Munce signed with Los Angeles and began his professional career with Bakersfield of the ECHL in 2005-06, where he went 30-18-5 in 55 games, earning a .919 save percentage and a 2.78 goals-against average. Over three season in the ECHL with Bakersfield, Johnstown, Mississippi and Reading, the 6-2, 180-pound Munce has compiled a 60-43-10 record in 124 appearances with a 2.81 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage.
The Sea Wolves open the 2008-09 home schedule with a three-game set against the Charlotte Checkers on October 24, 25, and 26 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Season tickets and group packages are now on sale! Call 228.275.WOLF to reserve yours today!
