
Rutkowski & Tuomie Named USHL Players of the Week

Sioux Falls, SD - The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced on Monday that Joe Rutkowski (Rah-COW-skee) and Parker Tuomie (Too-me) have been named CCM Defenseman and Forward of the Week respectively. It marks the first time this season the Stampede have had players take home Player of the Week honors.
Rutkowski earned the honors after posting four assists and a plus-2 rating in two games over the weekend at Tri-City. On Friday, Rutkowski posted three assists in a 5-4 loss to the Storm. The following night he assisted on the Herd's first goal of the game and finished the night a plus-3 as the Herd earned a split with the Storm with a 3-1 victory.
The Crystal Lake, IL native has recorded at least a point in four straight games and has seven points during that time. For the season, Rutkowski has accumulated 9 assists and a plus-5 rating in 18 games. He has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Ferris State University.
Tuomie was named Co-Forward of the week and is off to one of the best starts to a season in USHL history. He added to that total this past weekend by posting a season high four points on a goal and three assists in a 5-4 loss on Friday and added a goal in a 3-1 victory on Saturday. On Friday, Tuomie picked up assists on the first two Stampede goals and then scored on the power play for the Herd's third goal before setting up the fourth goal at 11:45 of the third period. On Saturday, Tuomie tallied a highlight reel goal in the second period to help lead the Herd to their 10th victory of the season.
The Hassfurt, Germany native leads the league in total points (25), goals (16) and shots (77).He has tallied a goal in six straight games and has registered at least a point in 15 of his first 18 games this season. Last season, Tuomie tallied 34 points (19g, 15a) in 52 games while helping lead the Herd to a Clark Cup championship. He is currently team captain and has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Minnesota State, Mankato next fall.
The Stampede return to action this Wednesday when they travel to Omaha to face the Lancers at 7:05 PM. They will return home this Friday and Saturday to host Fargo and Sioux City at 7:05 PM inside the PREMIER Center.
