Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatchewan Rush grabbed an early lead and managed to hang on for a big win to close out the 2022 calendar year. Despite never trailing, it was a back-and-forth game that ended in an 11-9 Rush victory over the Panther City Lacrosse Club.

The Rush came out flying as Dan Lintner snuck one top shelf to open the scoring. Moments later, Marty Dinsdale came out with the moves to add another and Connor McClelland then picked up a nice rebound to extend the lead to three. Panther City found the scoresheet twice but the Rush stayed on top with a 3-2 lead to end the opening quarter.

Panther City tied it up 3-3 early in the second quarter. Marshall Powless followed up with a goal after a sneaky behind the back pass from Mark Matthews. Ryan Keenan and Robert Church added to the lead to make it 6-3. Patrick Dodds answered back notching two goals past Alex Buque. The first 30 minutes finished 6-5 for the Rush.

It was déjà vu to start the third when Panther City knocked one in to tie the game 6-6. Powless put Saskatchewan back on top with his quick stick moves. Powless, Austin Madronic, and Matthews then added goals to extend the lead 9-6 before Panther City slid two more past Buque to make it 9-8.

The final quarter got off to a slow start, but Dinsdale gave the Rush a cushion with his 99th career goal. Panther City then closed the gap, but an empty net goal from Mike Messenger secured the Rush win.

With the win, the Rush have improved their record to 2-1 with a +13 goal differential. The team's next action is a rematch of their home opener with a visit to Ball Arena to take on the Colorado Mammoth at 8pm CT on Friday, January 13.
