
Rush Tie Franchise Record with Eighth-Straight Home Win

(Rapid City, SD) - On Saturday night the Rapid City Rush pummeled the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees by a 7-3 margin. The win marks the eighth straight home victory tying a franchise record. The squad has now won 10 of their last 13 games, and is now in a 3 way tie for second place in the Turner Conference. The Rush now face the Wichita Thunder on January 13th and 14th. The Rush dominated the Killer Bees in the opening period with a 21-7 advantage in shots and a pair of powerplay goals to take a 2-0 lead. The first tally came at 6:50 from Konrad Reeder who was stationed at the side of the net and redirected a pass from Shawn Limpright into the back of the net for his 16th of the season. The Rush doubled the lead at the 14:33 mark when Anthony Perdicaro tipped in a Les Reaney shot attempt.
The Killer Bees finally got on the board midway through the contest when Tomas Klempa when he capitalized on a breakaway for his 13th goal of the season.
Perdicaro would strike again 9 minutes into the third period when his second effort from the top of the crease slid through the five hole of the goal tender John Murray. The Bees bounced back 42 seconds later on a quirky goal from Dan Gendur for his second score of the weekend making it a 3-2 game. The Rush would score 4 of the next 5 goals to pull away for the 7-3 victory. Jesse Schultz and Shawn Limpright both found the twine less than one minute apart giving the Rush a 5-2 advantage. With less than 3 minutes remaining Klempa potted his second of the game before Riley Weselowski and Schultz scored empty net goals to ice the game.
