Rush QB Philyaw undergoes MRI, prognosis good

April 27, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release

Chicago Rush quarterback Raymond Philyaw underwent an MRI exam on his injured right knee Monday, and the results confirm the team's initial diagnosis of a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL).

"Raymond has a low Grade 2 sprain of his MCL and his condition has improved greatly since Sunday," said Rush team doctor Raj Khanna. "With this type of injury he could be out anywhere from one to four weeks, but if he continues to improve at the same rate, he should return sooner rather than later."

Philyaw was injured in the second quarter of Chicago's game against Los Angeles Sunday when he was hit while throwing a pass.

On the season, the leader of the Rush offense has completed 181 of 280 passes for 2,284 yards and 40 touchdowns, while throwing only four interceptions. He also has rushed for 52 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns this year.

The Rush (7-4) travels to Detroit this week to play the Fury (4-7) Sunday at 2 p.m. Fans in Chicago can watch the game, beginning at 2 p.m., on NBC 5 Chicago or listen to Tom Dore and John Jurkovic call the action on WCKG 105.9 FM.

The team returns home on Sunday, May 16, at 2 p.m. against the Dallas Desperados. Fans wishing to purchase individual game tickets to the Dallas game, or any Rush 2004 home game, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com.
