Rapid City Rush News Release

The Rapid City Rush completed their season ending trades involving future considerations. The Rush owed Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees two players in two separate trades that occurred during the 2008-2009 campaign.

In the first trade the Rapid City Rush were required to make available 8 forwards and one goalie from their player roster where the Killer Bees could select only one player. With this pick the Killer Bees selected the rights to forward Kyle Sheen. In the second trade where the Rush had to leave 6 players unprotected from their season ending roster the Killer Bees used their pick to selected goaltender Lanny Ramage.

Sheen played in 47 games for the expansion Rush where he accumulated 8 goals and 10 assists for 18 points to go along with 154 penalty minutes. Sheen scored on the first penalty shot attempt for the Rush on October 24th , 2008 against the Corpus Christi IceRays. In that game, Sheen also had the first fight in Rush history and he finished second on the team with 9 fighting majors.

"It's an honor to be selected in this trade," said Sheen. Obviously the coaches saw something in me that they wanted and it's a good feeling. At the same time it's a disappointment because of the time I had in Rapid City. The fans were outstanding along with the area which made it a great place to play. Another big thing was the support of the owners which was great and the way I was treated there which was perfect."

Ramage appeared in 25contests for Rapid City where he posted a 3.5 GAA and .898 sv % while posting a 6-13-3 record. On November 2nd , Ramage made 26 saves against the Wichita Thunder for his first professional win. Prior to playing for the Rush, Ramage played 5 seasons for Acadia University.

"Trades are always a tough part of pro sports," said Ferras. "We want to thank both Kyle and Lanny for their contributions last season and wish them the best of luck next year."
