January 10, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
After last week's three-day mini-camp, the Chicago Rush juggled its roster as it prepares for Monday's first day of training camp. The Rush announced today it has signed veteran FB/LB Travis McDonald to a one-year contract and waived quarterback Charlie Peterson and WR/DB BJ Barre.
McDonald (6-3, 255, Missouri) comes to the Rush after spending the 2004 season with the expansion Philadelphia Soul. McDonald ranks 15th on the AFL's all-time rushing list, having gained 615 yards in an eight-year career that has included stints with the Milwaukee Mustangs, Portland Forest Dragons, Oklahoma Wranglers, Grand Rapids Rampage and Soul.
"We are pleased to add another good FB/LB to our roster," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "Travis is another talented veteran who can give us depth at a position in which we already are strong."
McDonald has played in 80 games during his career, scoring 31 touchdowns and recording 92 tackles and 12.5 sacks.
The Rush kicks off its fifth anniversary season with the 2005 home opener set for noon on Sunday, February 6, against Jon Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul. Rush season tickets, beginning at just $64, currently are on sale. To reserve your tickets, or for more information about 2005 Rush season tickets, fans can call the Rush at (877) Rush-Tix (787-4849) or visit the team's Web site at www.chicagorush.com.
