San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, TX - The Colts picked up another win over the Edinburg Roadrunners Tuesday night at Foster Field by the score of 6-4.
The Roadrunners got on the board first on a solo homer by centerfielder Ambiorix Concepcion (8). But the Colts would respond in the bottom-half on a two-run blast by first-baseman Josh Collazo (4) to give San Angelo a 2-1 lead.
Edinburg would take the lead in the fourth by plating two runs. The first came on another solo shot, this time by third baseman Wilson Batista (3) to tie the game, then an RBI single by catcher Osiel Flores gave the Roadrunners a 3-2 lead.
However, the Colts would take control of the game in the bottom of the fourth by scoring three runs. Designated hitter Landon Camp's RBI double re-tied the game , before a two-run single by catcher Tyler Goodro gave the Colts a 5-3 lead.
San Angelo would add an insurance run in the fifth on an RBI double by third baseman Jason Crosland to put the Colts up by three, before Edinburg would score a run on a wild pitch in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-4.
But that was as close as Edinburg would get as the combination of Gorman Romero, Chace Vacek and Mike Hacker shut down the Roadrunners the rest of the way.
Collazo led the way for the Colts by going 2-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored. Goodro went 2-4 as well with two RBI while Camp had two doubles in four at-bats with an RBI and a run scored.
Romero (3-0) picked up the win in relief after starter Alex Morales went 4.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on eight hits and striking out five. Tim Haines (4-2) took the loss for Edinburg after allowing six runs on 10 hits in five innings. Hacker's save was his eighth of the season.
The Colts and Roadrunners will go at it in game three of their four-game series Wednesday night beginning at 7:05. Ezekiel Astacio (3-2, 4.91 ERA) will toe the rubber for San Angelo against Mike Reeves (3-2, 7.94 ERA) of Edinburg. Wednesday is also Sure-Win Wednesday presented by Sherwin Williams.
