RSL's Kyle Beckerman, Robbie Findley & Nick Rimando Named To U.S. Men's National Team Camp Roster

SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, December 22, 2009) - U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley today unveiled the 30-man training camp roster that will begin gathering January 4 at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., a group that includes a trio of members from Real Salt Lake's MLS Cup 2009 championship-winning squad - captain MF Kyle Beckerman, 2009 RSL Golden Boot winner FW Robbie Findley, and MLS Cup 2009 MVP GK Nick Rimando. The assembled roster will prepare for the USA's first match of 2010, a friendly against fellow FIFA World Cup finalists Honduras on Jan. 23 at The Home Depot Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. MT (live on Fox Soccer Channel and Galavision).

The annual camp held in January for players in their offseason is a largely domestic-based group that includes 25 players who ply their trade in the United States. Major League Soccer is well represented, with 13 of 16 clubs contributing players to the Carson camp. Chivas USA boasts the most representatives from an MLS squad with four, followed by Real Salt Lake, Columbus Crew and FC Dallas, each of whom will send three players to the camp.

Beckerman has the most experience of the RSL triumvirate at the international level, the Utah side's captain claiming 10 career caps since making his senior debut during the 2007 Copa America in Venezuela to go along with one goal. The 27-year-old midfielder increased his international profile in July during an impressive stint at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, starting in five of the USA's six appearances en route to the tournament's final and scoring the equalizer in the second half of an eventual 2-1 overtime win over Panama in the quarterfinal round on July 18 at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field. Beckerman, whose last appearance in Red, White & Blue came as a late-match substitute in the USA's 2-1 win over El Salvador in a CONCACAF region World Cup Qualifying contest in front of his home crowd at Rio Tinto Stadium on Sep. 5, is one of eight players in the January camp to have a cap count in the double digits and one of 10 that has scored a goal on the international stage.

Findley will be in search of his second career appearance for the U.S. Men's National Team at the end of the upcoming camp, his first cap coming back on Oct. 17, 2007, when he entered the USA's 1-0 victory at Switzerland in the 90th minute in place of Clint Dempsey. Alongside Beckerman, the 24-year-old Findley was called into the camp prior to the qualifiers against El Salvador and at Trinidad & Tobago in early September, but the Phoenix native did not get the opportunity to build on his previous appearance in either of those contests. Findley's considerable speed and skill have put him on Bradley's radar, as did a breakout performance in 2009, which included 12 goals during the regular season (tied for 3rd in MLS) and a MLS Cup Playoff co-leading three goals - including the equalizer in MLS Cup 2009 against the LA Galaxy - to go along with an assist during postseason play.

Rimando is parlaying a stellar 2009 campaign for his club side into another U.S. MNT camp appearance, the 10-year MLS veteran earning an invite to the January camp for the first time during his tenure with Real Salt Lake. Rimando's last appearance for the USA came back during the Bruce Arena era, when he notched his first complete-game shutout in a 2-0 friendly victory over Wales on May 26, 2003, at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif. The 30-year-old Rimando began his senior international career by notching second half shutouts on the heels of starter Tim Howard on two occasions - a 2-0 win over El Salvador at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 17, 2002; and a 4-0 trouncing of Canada two months later on Jan. 18 at Lockhart Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
