Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced the team has signed defenseman Dinos Stamoulis ["DEEN ohs stah MOO lis"].
Stamoulis (6'0/195) (25), who will be entering his third full season of pro hockey, registered offensive career highs last season with the Royals, scoring five goals and assisting on twelve others (seventeen points) in sixty-eight ECHL games. Stamoulis, who had a stellar four-year collegiate career with the Providence College Friars prior to turning pro, also registered a career-high 104 penalty minutes with the Royals last season-the third highest total on the team-which included eight fighting majors. Stamoulis, who took over as the Royals' team captain on March 10, 2009, after Mac Faulkner was traded to the Cincinnati Cyclones, earned two call-ups to the AHL last year, playing a game for the Providence Bruins and finishing the last week of the season with the Springfield Falcons where he registered an assist in five games. For his efforts in Reading, Stamoulis was selected as the team's Ironman at the annual Fans' Choice Awards Banquet.
Season tickets for the Royals' 2009-10 season are currently available. To become a part of Royals hockey, call 610-898-PUCK or log onto www.royalshockey.com.
