Royals Sign Big Forward

September 3, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliates of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have agreed to terms on one-year contract with right winger Dan Sullivan. With today's signings, the Royals have 15 players under contract with Sullivan becoming the eighth forward signed.

Sullivan, 23, missed all of last season with several injuries. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound right-winger appeared in just one game in 2003-04 with the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters. He was held scoreless, but did rack up a five-minute major for dropping the gloves with ex-Royal Ryan Flinn. In 2002-03 his rookie season, Sullivan appeared in 46 ECHL contests with Roanoke and Baton Rouge. He totaled eight goals and 18 points with 113 penalty minutes.

Coach Derek Clancey believes Sullivan has a lot of potential, "Dan Sullivan has great size, skates well and is a tremendous physical presence on the ice. I remember seeing him several years ago in Baton Rouge, and I believe he can be a solid player as he gains more experience. I'm looking forward to a healthy Dan Sullivan this year and what he can bring to our team."

To date, the Royals have come to terms with 15 players for the 2004-05 season. Rookie signees are defensemen Simon Mangos, Frederic Belanger, Andrew Nahirniak, Matthew Medley, Galvin and left wing Colt King along with D'Arcy McConvey. Royals returnees from last season's Northern Division Championship squad include: Defensemen Ian Turner, Dean Arsene and Reagan Rome along with forwards Peter Hay, David Masse, Judd Medak, leading scorer Graig Mischler and Sullivan.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals.
