
Royals Host Weekend Set Versus Thunderbirds

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals will battle the defending WHL Champion Seattle Thunderbirds, on Friday and Saturday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop for both contests are slated for 7:05 p.m.
Friday's game is Winter Driving Awareness Night presented by Mainroad, as well as Downie Wenjack Fund Night.
FRESH THREADS: In Friday's contest, the Royals will be donning the new white version of their third jersey. Replicas of this new jersey will be available at the Royals' Team Store.
SUPER SOY: After registering a goal and an assist in last night's contest versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Royals' forward Tyler Soy is within one point of tying the all-time franchise record for most career points. Currently the record is held by former Royal and Chilliwack Bruin Brandon Magee who totalled 264 points (113g-151a) over his 318-game career.
FRIDAY - MAINROAD WINTER DRIVING AWARENESS & DOWNIE WENJACK FUND NIGHT
Mainroad and Kal Tire will be reminding fans throughout the game to Shift into Winter by providing safety tips, winter road maintenance displays, including a snow plow, and information on how to prepare for winter road conditions.
As part of the night, Mike Downie, the Co-Founder of the Downie & Wenjack Fund as well as the co-creator of the graphic novel and film, The Secret Path, will be in attendance.
The Downie Wenjack Fund was established as part of Gord Downie's legacy to bring awareness of the true history of Indigenous People and to generate discussion to forge new relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.
Pre-Game:
The first 100 fans upon entrance will receive ice scrapers for their vehicle, while one lucky fan will get a chance to win a pair of Nokian Winter tires courtesy of Kal Tire.
Mainroad vehicles, including a snow plough, will be on display outside of Gate 1.
During a special pre-game ceremony and puck drop, Mike Downie will be presented with a custom-painted goalie mask by General Manager Cameron Hope and local artist Travis Michael, who has painted all of the Royals' goalie masks since 2014. Michael designed two identical masks for this night. The masks pay tribute to Gord Downie's past as an artist and goalie as well as reflect the story of The Secret Path .
One of the Downie Wenjack Fund themed mask will be displayed at Gate 1. The remaining mask will be available online at CHL Auctions: http://auction.chl.ca . All proceeds raised from the auction will go towards the fund.

Kal Tire & Mainroad Tire Rolling Contest (second intermission)
o Fans will roll tires to centre ice for the chance to win a set a of four Nokian tires valued up to $1,000, courtesy of Kal Tire.

Pre-Game:
Saturday night's contest will have a ceremonial puck drop take place featuring Constable Aaron Thompson and Asher, his Police Service dog.
