
Royals Down Braves 7-3 Behind Stellar Hitting Display

Burlington, N.C. - The Royals showcased their offense in a 7-3 win against the Braves on Sunday night. Burlington had ten hits on the night and every single hitter in the lineup reached base at least once.
With two outs in the bottom of the first, Vinnie Pasquantino brought home Jay Charleston on a single to give the Royals an early 1-0 edge. Burlington tacked on two more in the second, with Mikey Filia scoring from third following a throwing error by Danville starter Tyler Owens and and Charleston plating Burle Dixon on a groundout to second.
The Braves had an answer in the top of the third when Brandon Parker hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Charles Reyes. However, the Royals came back and took a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth following a Maikel Garcia sacrifice fly and a Jake Means RBI double.
The teams exchanged runs throughout the rest of the game, but Danville could only string together five hits in its losing effort.
Burlington reliever Zack Phillips got the win for 1.1 innings of relief. Owens took the loss for Danville after earning two runs in 1.2 innings of work.
Game three of a four game series is set for Monday with a 6:30 first pitch.
