Royals Complete Tyler Lumsden Trade by Acquiring Outfielder Jordan Parraz

LAS VEGAS, NV (Dec. 11, 2008) - The Kansas City Royals have completed the Nov. 24 trade in which they sent left-handed pitcher Tyler Lumsden to the Houston Astros by acquired outfielder Jordan Parraz as the player to be named.

The 24-year old Parraz will be assigned to Class AA Northwest Arkansas after hitting .289 with 31 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 42 RBI and 82 runs in 2008 for Class A Advanced Salem in the Carolina League. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound right handed hitter and thrower drew 64 walks against 79 strikeouts and stole 21 bases while playing both center field and right field for the Avalanche. A third round selection of the Astros in 2004, Parraz was named MVP at both Tri-City (A) and Lexington (A) in 2006 and 2007, respectively. The Henderson, Nev., native was named the Astros prospect with the Best Outfield Arm by Baseball America prior to the 2008 season.
