Victoria, BC- Victoria Royals' goaltender Justin Paulic stopped 34 of 35 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings in a Family Day Matinee contest at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Victoria and Edmonton were deadlocked at 1-1 before Austin Carroll would score the game winner midway through the second stanza. Victoria native Jack Palmer notched the game's first marker for the Royals, while Oil Kings' forward Mads Eller scored Edmonton's lone goal on the powerplay.

Today marked Victoria forward Brandon Magee's 300th WHL regular season game. Magee is the first player in Royals/Bruins franchise history to achieve this feat. The Edmonton, AB native has amassed 246 points in those 300 contests.

This afternoon was also Royals' Head Equipment Manager Matt Auerbach's 700th career WHL game. Auerbach has been with the Victoria/Chilliwack franchise since its inception in 2006 and also spent one season with the Regina Pats.

Edmonton started goaltender Patrick Dea in net who turned aside 20 of the 22 pucks directed his way.

The Royals went 0/40.0% on the powerplay, while the Oil Kings went 1/425.0%.

Victoria will now take to the road for a three game in three night road trip beginning with a stop in Kelowna on Friday. Victoria will then head to Kamloops to face the Blazers the following night and then finish off with a contest against the Seattle Thunderbirds on Sunday, February 15th.
