Portland Winterhawks News Release
Hawks Happenings On The Ice:
The Hawks enter a stretch over the next week where they have just one game over the next eight days. Their game Friday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum against the Tri-City Americans is their only contest of the week, after which they have a weekend off, and don't play again until next Tuesday when they travel to Kennewick to take on the Americans.
Defenseman Adam Henry had two assists last night in Everett, and has now put up six points in his last six games. Henry, acquired from the Saskatoon Blades prior to last month's trade deadline, has been especially good on the power play this season, as he's tied for ninth in the WHL with 15 power play assists.
Josh Hanson hit a significant career milestone last night in Everett, as he played in his 300th career game. The 20-year-old blueliner became just the seventh player in franchise history to play 300 games as a Hawk, joining Troy Rutkowski (351), Kevin Haupt (326), Taylor Peters (319), Todd Robinson (317), Layne Roland (313) and Brian Woolger (308).
Mitchell Walter returned to action over the weekend for the Hawks, suiting up in both Friday's and Sunday's game. Walter was acquired from Edmonton prior to the trade deadline, but suffered an injury in his first game with the Hawks on January 14 and hadn't played since.
Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:
Winterhawks fans will have the chance to meet several players Wednesday at a Les Schwab appearance. Fans can come by the Les Schwab located at 8910 SW Barbur Blvd. from 4:30 - 6 p.m. to meet Oliver Bjorkstrand, Blake Heinrich and Alex Schoenborn.
Fans have until March 6 to buy raffle tickets to the Jerseys off the Backs promotion. Tickets are available at all home games, with lucky winners being invited down to the ice after the game on March 15 to receive the jersey right off the back of a Winterhawks player.
