The Princeton Rays lost to the Burlington Royals, 6-1, on August 23 at Hunnicutt Field. Burlington scored one run in the second inning and five in the sixth. The Rays scored their only run in the seventh inning. The winning pitcher for the Royals was Enmanuel Camacho and Eduar Lopez took the loss for the Rays.

Princeton is second in the Appalachian League East standings, at 33-26, behind Pulaski, at 37-21. Burlington is fourth in the East at 25-34.

In the second inning, Burlington's Xavier Fernandez scored from a single by Jose Martinez. The Royals brought five home in the sixth inning. Brandon Thomasson scored, as there was a fielding error by Kewby Meyer. Fernandez scored off of a single by Meibrys Viloria. Jose Martinez singled to bring Luke Willis home. Viloria scored from a single by Angelo Castellano. Martinez made it home from a ground out by Brian Bien. Princeton's only run came from Brett Sullivan, as Jamie Mitchell grounded out.
