Monarchs Player of the Week: Jared Aulin

Jared Aulin has a four-game point streak since returning from an injury that kept him out of the Monarchs lineup for 19 games. Aulin, a 21-year-old rookie from Calgary, Alberta, scored a pair of goals including the game-winner against the Portland Pirates on Wednesday, April 2. He also scored a goal against the Worcester IceCats on Friday, April 4, added an assist against the Providence Bruins on Saturday, April 5, and closed the regular season by notching a pair of assists against the Lowell Lock Monsters on Sunday, April 6.

Eric Healey took home most of the hardware for the Monarchs on Saturday, April 5 as he was crowned the winner of the Ace Bailey MVP Award...Healey, who led the Monarchs with 42 goals and 73 points during the regular season, also won the Union Leader Fan Favorite Award and the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award, presented to the AHL player who best exemplifies determination, dedication and sportsmanship in the game of hockey...Other award winners included defensemen Joe Rullier, who won the Mark Bavis Unsung Hero Award, and Richard Seeley, who won the AHL Man of the Year/Monarchs Community Service Award...Healey closed the 2002-03 season with 23 goals in his last 33 games...The Monarchs have killed off 28 straight opponent power play attempts over the last eight games...The Monarchs have scored four short-handed goals in their last two home games...The 2002-03 Monarchs set franchise records for points in a season (97), wins in a season (40) and road wins in a season (17)...The team also tied the franchise mark for home wins in a season (23)...Goaltender Travis Scott finished the 2002-03 regular season with 23 wins and 50 appearances...Both totals represent new team records and career highs for the 27-year-old Scott...Head Coach Bruce Boudreau reached the 40 win plateau for the first time in his AHL coaching career on Sunday...Boudreau, who has just one losing record in 10 seasons of coaching, has averaged 37 wins during his four-year AHL tenure...The Monarchs 2003 Calder Cup Playoff roster includes 17 players with NHL experience, and 15 of the players on the roster have appeared on the Kings roster this season...The Monarchs recorded a 1-1-1-1 record in four head-to-head match-ups with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season...The Monarchs were 1-0-1-0 against the Sound Tigers at the Verizon Wireless Arena...The Monarchs are 3-2-2-1 in eight all-time meetings with the Sound Tigers, who like them, entered the AHL during the 2001-02 season.

The Monarchs today released defenseman Jon Insana from his professional tryout agreement... Insana, a 22-year-old native of New Baltimore, Michigan, registered no points and two penalty minutes in two games with the Monarchs...The rookie out of Michigan State University also played for the Trenton Titans and the Florida Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League in 2002-03...The Los Angeles Kings on Monday assigned eight players to the Manchester Monarchs...The list of player eligible for the 2003 Calder Cup Playoffs includes center Sean Avery, defenseman Joe Corvo, left wing Ryan Flinn, defenseman Jason Holland, goaltender Cristobal Huet, center Steve Kelly, center Jerred Smithson and defenseman Tomas Zizka...The eight players were assigned to Manchester after the Kings wrapped up the 2002-03 season with a 2-0 win in Vancouver against the Canucks on Sunday...Of the eight, only Avery has not played in both L.A. and Manchester this season.

Monarchs Ticket Prices:

Gold level (100 level) pricing for Round One of the Calder Cup Playoffs is $17 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10.25 for kids 12-and-under. Silver level (200 level) pricing is $12.75 for adults, $10.75 for seniors and $10.25 for kids 12-and-under. Group rates are available for 15 people or more - call the Monarchs at 603-626-7825 for more information.

The Playoff Picture:

The Monarchs begin their best-of-five Round One playoff series against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, April 12 at the Verizon Wireless Arena starting at 7:35 p.m. The Monarchs will also host Bridgeport on Sunday, April 13th at 4:05 p.m., before playing at Bridgeport on Friday, April 18 at 7:35 p.m., and on Saturday, April 19th at 7:05 p.m. if necessary. If a fifth game is necessary, it will be played at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Tuesday, April 22nd at 7:05 p.m.

Season Ticket Holders who have purchased Calder Cup Playoff packages should use tickets marked Conference Quarterfinals, Game C, for Saturday's game (Game 1, April 12) and Conference Quarterfinals, Game D for Sunday's game (Game 2, April 13). If necessary, Season Ticket Holders with Calder Cup Playoff packages should use tickets marked Conference Quarterfinals, Game E for game 5, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at 7:05 p.m.
