Worcester Bravehearts News Release
BROCKTON - A standout performance by starting pitcher Jacob Stevens (Boston College / Darian, Connecticut) was not enough to lead the Worcester Bravehearts to victory, as they dropped a 1-0 contest to the Brockton Rox on Tuesday night, June 23 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton.
The incoming freshman took the loss, as he allowed the only run of the game while surrendering only two hits and striking out three in six innings of work. With runners on second and third and one out in the fourth inning, Rox catcher JD Andreessen (Campbell University / Depew, New York) hit a sacrifice fly to score left fielder Tom Marcinczyk (Rutgers / Middlesex, New Jersey).
The Bravehearts outhit the Rox 5-3 but didn't advance a runner past second base.
Brockton starter Justin Sinbaldi (Nicholls State, Kenner, Louisiana) got the win going five innings and striking out eight while giving up only two hits. Rox pitcher Tommy Stoffel (Virginia Tech / Englewood, Ohio) collected his second save in as many games, as he struck out two and retired all three Worcester batters in order in the ninth inning.
The 5-11 Bravehearts return home for a matchup with the Pittsfield Suns at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
