Rowdies to Take Part in "No Limits" Sports: a Paralympic Experience

TAMPA, Fla. (February 9, 2012) - Tampa Bay Rowdies players will be taking part in the "No Limits" sports event this Saturday, February 11th, hosted by Shriners Hospitals for Children - Tampa in conjunction with the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department's Paralympic Sport -Tampa Bay Program.

This annual event will be held at the All People's Life Center complex located at 6105 E. Sligh Avenue. Registration will begin at 8:00 am for three instructional clinics starting at 9:00 am. The clinics will conclude at approximately 2:00 p.m.

Children ages 6-21 years old with physical challenges will be introduced to sports and recreational activities including: soccer, basketball, golf, field events, tennis, hand cycling and zumba. Current and former Paralympian Athletes also volunteer their time to take part and instruct in the events, which are sports in the Paralympics.

The goal of the event is to mentor and encourage participants as well as show families of children with physical challenges how participating in these kinds of activities not only promotes a healthy lifestyle, but also increases independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
