
Round Rock Makes History with Franchise-Record 14th Straight Win

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (30-17 | 74-47) set a new franchise record with their 14th-straight win after taking down the Salt Lake Bees (19-27 | 56-64) by a final score of 9-1 at Dell Diamond on Wednesday night.
Round Rock starter RHP Owen White (2-1, 4.59) earned the win after 5.2 innings of one-hit baseball. He walked four and struck out three. Salt Lake starter RHP Cesar Valdez (0-1, 7.20) went home with the loss after 5.0 innings that included five earned runs on nine hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
Along the Train Tracks:
Round Rock took a 1-0 lead after the first frame thanks to a solo home run from SS Davis Wendzel. His 25th blast of the season barely cleared the fence in left field.
The E-Train put up a four-run fourth inning behind six hits. 2B Dio Arias knocked in two runs with a single while 3B Josh Harrison added a run with another single. DH Justin Foscue added one more with an RBI single and the Express led 5-0.
In the sixth inning, Round Rock tacked on three more runs to take an 8-0 lead. The Express loaded the bases and Hernandez smacked an RBI single to score one more before LF Dustin Harris recorded a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 8-0.
The E-Train tacked on one more run in the ninth inning. LF Dustin Harris singled to score Wendzel as the Express held a 9-0 advantage. Salt Lake 3B Kevin Padlo hit a solo homer for the Bees to end the shutout but Round Rock held on for the 9-1 victory.
E-Train Excerpts:
With Wednesday's win, the 2023 Round Rock Express now own the longest winning streak in club history. The previous record of 13 games was set May 19-31, 2004.
Express RHP Owen White threw a season-high 5.2 innings on Wednesday and did not allow a run. It marked his third outing this season in eight starts that he did not surrender a run.
Round Rock is 16-4 to open the month of August, which is tied for the best start to a month in franchise history. The Express also went 16-4 to start April in 2001.
Round Rock 1B Blaine Crim and RF Elier Hernandez each went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored on Wednesday. DH Justin Foscue posted three singles while Hernandez had two singles and a double.
Next up: The Express will take on the Bees in game three of the series at Dell Diamond on Thursday night, with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Round Rock RHP Zak Kent (0-0, 2.38) is scheduled to face off against Salt Lake RHP Carson Fulmer (0-1, 8.10).
