
Round Rock Express Escape with 7-6 Victory at Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Tommy Everidge blasted a two-out solo homer in the top of the 10th inning to lead the Round Rock Express past the Albuquerque Isotopes in Thursday night's series opener at Isotopes Park. The Express (39-53) snapped a six-game losing streak in road games, posting their first one-run victory on the road since a 6-5 win June 17 at Iowa. Round Rock holds a 5-4 advantage in the season series against the Isotopes (45-45).
It was Everidge's 11th homer of the season, his fourth since joining the Express in late June. Gary Majewski (3-2), who blew a save in the bottom of the ninth, retired the side in order in the bottom of the 10th for the win. Ramon Troncoso (0-2) surrendered Everidge's homer and took the loss.
Edwin Bellorin's one-out, two-run homer in top of the seventh snapped a 2-2 tie, and Edwin Maysonet added a two-run double in the top of the eighth to give the Express a 6-2 lead. The Isotopes got a pair of runs off reliever Jonah Bayliss in the bottom of the eighth to pull back within two runs.
Despite a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth, Majewski had the game closed. However, Matt Kata misplayed a two-out fly ball, allowing a run to score and prolonging the game. After a walk, Ivan De Jesus Jr. tied the game with a with an RBI single. Majewski induced a grounder from Russ Mitchell to end the inning.
Express starter Wesley Wright allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts over 6.2 innings and left with the lead. Albuquerque starter Alberto Bastardo yielded four runs on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts over 7.0 innings and was in line for the loss before the ninth-inning rally.
Drew Locke's one-out, two-run single snapped a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth. The Isotopes quickly answered as Mitchell led off the bottom of the fourth with a homer. De Jesus Jr. tied the game with a one-out solo homer in the sixth.
Maysonet was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI, while Locke was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Brian Bogusevic and Everidge each scored twice. Bellorin's homer was his first of the season.
Round Rock and Albuquerque continue the series Friday with an 8:05 p.m. CDT first pitch at Isotopes Park. Right-hander Sergio Perez (3-3, 4.47 ERA) starts for the Express, while the Isotopes counter with right-hander Charlie Haeger (1-1, 3.86 ERA).
