Spokane Shock News Release

Boise, ID: The Spokane Shock traveled to Boise this weekend and are returning home with a victory over the Burn, 62-44.

The Shock put together a complete game offensively, defensively and on special teams. Starting QB Andrico Hines, who was named the Schutt's Offensive Player of the Game, executed Shackleford's offensively game plan flawlessly. Hines passing game relied on several quick screens that help to set up the deep threat of his receiving core. Once again WR Antwone Savage, turned in a superb performance with four touchdown receptions and 89 yards. Reserve receiver Kelvin Dickens had a breakout performance leading the team in receptions (11), including two for touchdowns.

The game of divisional foes turned heated at the 11:22 mark in the fourth quarter. Boise QB Bart Hendricks drove the Burn down to the one yard line and then drew up a running play to former Shock FB Chauncey Ako. Ako fumbled the ball at the one but it fell into the hands of Burn WR Jermaine Martin who was standing in the endzone. The Burn then lined up and captilzed on a two point conversion. Shortly after, a scuffle ensued and was only escalated by Burn Head Coach Lee Leslie who hard some words for DB Rob Keefe, who was named Defensive Player of the Game. Keefe took exception to Lee's comments and fired back with some words of his own. A melee broke out with several members of the Burn jumping onto the field as OL/DL Dustin Rykert threw several punches at Keefe. Keefe then took off his helmet and headed for midfield to avoid further confrontation. After a five minute stoppage in play, the referees announced that five players had been ejected from the game including Keefe and DB Nygel Rogers along with three members of the Burn that included Rykert. With the Shock's secondary depleted, due to these ejections, several players had to step it up to secure the win with over 11 minutes to play and a 20 point lead.

The Shock's defense held firm only allowing two touchdowns for the remainder of the game. The Shock left Boise immediately after the game for the long road trip home; battered and bruised but victorious none the less.
