
Fever gets even with Blitz

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Tri-Cities Fever came into Rabobank Arena on Saturday night with one thing in mind...revenge. The Fever got it by defeating the Blitz, 54-49, on Saturday night.
Fever QB Brian Baker had a strong night going 15-30 for 235 yards and 7 touchdowns. Baker also tossed 2 interceptions. WR J.R. Thomas and newcomer WR Deontrae Johnson were running wild all night long. Thomas had 5 catches for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Johnson caught 6 balls for 66 yards and 3 touchdowns. Johnson was named the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game.
LB Emery Beckles was named U.S. Army Ironman of the Game. Beckles finished with 2 tackles, 2 interceptions and he added 98 yards on kickoff returns.
Bakersfield FB/LB Nick Onaindia (Utah State, '01) finished with 5.5 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 3 quarterback hits and 2 sacks. DB Brian Green (Miles College, '01) had 2 tackles and a key interception.
The Blitz will hit the road next weekend as they travel to take on the Everett Hawks (1-6) for a Sunday matinee. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27th. After a week off, the Blitz will be back home to "Paint the Town Red" as the defending ArenaCup Champions, the Spokane Shock come to town on Saturday, June 9th.
