RoughRiders Announce New Goalie Coach

Cedar Rapids, IA - The RoughRiders announce and welcome Christian Frey as the team's Goalie Coach.
Christian, born in Arlington, TX, played youth hockey in Dallas before moving on to play in the USHL for three seasons and on to play for Ohio State University. In four seasons at Ohio State University (Big Ten Conference), the Arlington, Texas native posted a 36-34-11 record with three shutouts, a 2.86 GAA and .913 SV% in 87 games from 2013-17. Frey was named to the Big Ten Second All-Star Team in 2016-17, while he was named to the Big Ten All-Rookie Team in 2013-14.
"I'm extremely excited to be a part of such a successful organization", said Frey, "after speaking with the coaching staff it is no wonder why the RoughRiders have been one of the most consistent clubs in the USHL. I aim to come in and continue the success in whatever ways I can."
RoughRiders Head Coach Mark Carlson is pleased to add to his staff stating, "We are excited to welcome Christian to the Roughrider family. He was a successful goalie in the USHL, Ohio State, and the pro ranks. He knows the USHL very well and will be able to share his experiences with our goalies. I have been impressed with Christian's passion, work ethic, and drive to develop goaltenders. Our players and coaches look forward to working with Christian this season."
