RoughRider Scores Game Winning Goal in Stanley Cup Final

Ross Colton skated in 113 career games for the RoughRiders from 2014-16 and now he is a Stanley Cup Champion!

Colton, 24, scored the only goal in the Tampa Bay Lightning's Stanley Cup Final clinching Game 5 over the Montreal Canadiens. Colton is in his rookie season with the Lightning and made a big impact throughout the regular season and playoff run. He skated in 53 games and tallied 13 goals and 5 assists during the championship season.

Ross Colton is just the second rookie in the NHL's modern era to score the Stanley Cup-clinching goal and the seventh rookie in NHL history overall. Colton, a native of Robbinsville, New Jersey, is just the seventh US-born player to score a Cup-winning goal and the first since RoughRiders alumnus Alec Martinez in 2014 with the Los Angeles Kings.

Colton joins Alec Martinez and Justin Abdelkader as RoughRiders alumni to hoist the Stanley Cup.

Ross Colton still holds the single-season record for goals as a RoughRider, 35, which he hit in 2015-16. Colton also served as the RoughRiders captain during that season.
