Roughnecks to play in Lethbridge
October 30, 2006 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB (Monday, October 30, 2006) -On December 30, arch rivals the Calgary Roughnecks and Edmonton Rush
will battle it out in a pre-season exhibition game at the ENMAX Centre.
The Roughnecks won three of four National Lacrosse League confrontations with the Rush last year. That Edmonton victory was their only win in a disappointing 1-15 inaugural season.
"We are very excited about this game," said Roughnecks Vice-President and General Manager, Kurt Silcott.
"Grassroots lacrosse is growing in Lethbridge and we're proud to work with the folks at the ENMAX Centre to showcase the best professional players in the world."
Silcott added, "I'm confident the people of Lethbridge and area will embrace this event by coming out to support the National Lacrosse League and in particular, the Calgary Roughnecks."
His comments were echoed by Nicole Milton, Marketing Manager for the ENMAX Centre.
"We're really excited to bring professional lacrosse to our city," said Milton.
"Though lacrosse is still in its infancy here in southern Alberta, interest in the NLL is high, no doubt fuelled by the success of the Calgary Roughnecks."
She explained, "We have 5,145 seats in the ENMAX Centre and we expect to see every one of them occupied the night of December 30."
Ball drop is at 7.30 p.m.
The Roughnecks first game of the regular season is at home to San Jose on Friday, January 12.
