Roughnecks Select Seven in 2026 NLL Entry Draft

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks selected seven players at the 2026 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft during the six-round selection process.
The Roughnecks started the draft by acquiring the 5th overall pick in the 2026 NLL Entry Draft from the San Diego Seals in exchange for the 10th overall pick and a 2027 first round selection. With the 5th overall pick, the Roughnecks selected forward Joey Spallina from Syracuse University. Spallina produced 143 goals and 333 points in 71 career games played with Syracuse, earning him Second Team All-American honours and one of only seven players in program history with at least 100 goals and 100 assists. He also helped Team USA to a silver medal at the 2024 World Box Lacrosse Championship.
The Riggers second selection of the draft came just two picks later at 7th overall, where they took forward Chad Palumbo of Princeton University. The Newton, MA native scored 102 goals and 163 points in 53 career games played with Princeton, earning him First Team All-Ivy League honours in his senior season.
With the 14th overall pick in the first round, the Roughnecks selected defender Zach Moen from the Okotoks Jr. A Raiders and the University of Ottawa. The local Calgary native helped the Raiders to their first ever Minto Cup Championship in 2026, making history as the first Alberta based team to win the national championship. Moen had 8 points and 30 penalty minutes in 13 games played this past season in the RMJALL.
The team rounded out the draft selecting Kaden Kublinskas (D) at 31st, Luke Soenen (D) at 45th, Alex Ross (D) at 51st, and Zach Vanderwal (D) at 54th.
"It couldn't have gone any better for us," said Roughnecks General Manager Mike Board. "We filled some needs and the two guys we got early in the first round can come in and play right away and add to our offence. We are excited to see everyone at training camp."
