FC Tulsa News Release
The Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. will play the second of three straight away matches when it travels back to California to face the first-place Sacramento Republic F.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. at Sacramento's Papa Murphy's Park.
The Roughnecks will enter the match looking for their first win, but also carrying a two-match unbeaten streak. TRFC drew 0-0 at home to the Portland Timbers 2 on April 4, before getting a stoppage-time equalizer in its last match to gain a 2-2 draw at Fresno F.C. on April 18.
Saturday's opponent will not be an easy one. Sacramento currently sits atop the table in the USL's Western Conference with 14 points and a 4-0-2 record through six games. The Republic attack is led Cameron Iwasa who has netted a team-best three goals this season. As a team, Sacramento has scored nine goals while conceding five.
The match marks another tough opponent for TRFC. In its sixth match of the season, the game is the third meeting for the Roughnecks with a top three squad from the Western Conference. Previously this season, Tulsa has lost to third-place Real Monarchs SLC and second-place Orange County.
Fans can watch Saturday's match with a subscription to ESPN+. ESPN is the USL's new TV partner for the 2018 season.
It has been a busy week personnel wise for the Roughnecks. The club first announced that 2018 MLS SuperDraft pick Wyatt Omsberg has joined the club on loan from Minnesota United FC of Major League Soccer. The 6'4" defender is expected to be available for Saturday's match.
The club also announced that it has come to terms with midfielder Jonathan Levin and veteran defender Nemanja Vukovic on 2018 USL contracts. Levin was with TRFC during the last half of the 2017 season, while Vukovic has vast experience in the USL, NASL and MLS. He was a teammate of current Tulsa midfielder Ivan Mirkovic in Sacramento.
Last week, forward Jon Bakero and goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland played for the Roughnecks on loan from the Chicago Fire. The duo is unlikely to be available for TRFC this weekend.
Tulsa's next home match is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9. Tickets for that match, and all other 2018 matches at ONEOK Field, are currently available online, over the telephone at (918)744-5901 or in person at the stadium ticket office.
