Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks defeated the Vancouver Stealth 15-13 in front of 13,769 fans on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome, extending their winning streak to two games.
The Roughnecks controlled the opening frame, netting five goals to the visiting Stealth's three, before Vancouver responded with four second-quarter goals to take a 7-6 lead after 30 minutes of play.
The third quarter saw Calgary score another five tallies, including rookie defender Tyson Bell who notched his first career NLL goal, to give the Roughnecks a double-digit lead for the first time this season. The Stealth replied with a pair of quick markers from Joel McCready at the end of the frame to draw the game even at 11 apiece.
Goals from rookie forward Wesley Berg, Tyler Digby, Greg Harnett and Jeff Shattler, his third of the night, secured the win in the final quarter.
Dane Dobbie led Calgary's attack with an eight-point effort (three goals, five assists) while Frankie Scigliano picked up the win, turning aside 37 of 50 shots he faced.
The victory sees Calgary improve to 2-2 while Vancouver drops to 1-3.
The Roughnecks return to action next weekend with back-to-back games, beginning Friday, Feb. 5, against the Saskatchewan Rush at SaskTel Centre (6:30 p.m. MT, FOX Sports GO). Calgary then returns to the 'Dome to host the Georgia Swarm on Saturday, Feb. 6 (7:00 p.m. MT, FOX Sports GO). On Saturday, fans are encouraged to arrive in costume for Superhero Night, presented by Pete the Plumber. Prizes for the best superhero attire will be given out throughout the contest.
