Rochester Knighthawks News Release
Despite a second-half spark, the Rochester Knighthawks fell 13-9 against the Georgia Swarm Saturday night at Connors & Ferris Field at the Blue Cross Arena.
Craig Point led the team in scoring with five points (3+2). Cory Vitarelli had two goals and added an assist while Joe Resetarits, Scott Campbell, Adam Bomberry and Cody Jamieson each pitched in a goal in the effort.
"You always want to be the first team to score and it just so happened they did," said Point. "We've just got to keep our composure, stay the course and play like we did in the third and the fourth."
Defensemen Brad Self and Dylan Evans made their season debuts in the matchup. Self showed his speed and agility early in the game as he ran coast to coast, nearly putting up his first goal of the season. Evans stood strong in the faceoff circle, winning 15 of the 25 he took.
"It was nice to get (Self) and 'Dyls' back in the lineup," said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. "We'll take it and move forward, change a few things for next Wednesday."
"It would have been nice to get that goal early on and get a little momentum for our team, but it was nice to be back with the team," said Self.
Though the team has another bye-week next weekend, they are confident that they can take that time to work toward getting back in the win column.
"As the game went on we got better," Hasen said. "We were pushing them in the fourth quarter. So we are going to take that momentum and take it to practice on Wednesday."
The Knighthawks (2-2) will be back in action on Saturday Feb. 13th as they take on the Vancouver Stealth at home. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling the Knighthawks office at (585) 545-4295 or through ticketmaster outlets.
