Roughnecks Receive Commitments from Defensive Backs Marrio Norman & Emanuel White

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks have announced on Tuesday, October 5, that the organization has received commitments from defensive backs Marrio Norman & Emanuel White for the 2011 season. Norman (6'0", 180 lbs.) spent four seasons at Coastal Carolina University and was a starter for two seasons at both safety and cornerback. White (6'2", 210 lbs.) started for two seasons at the University of Arkansas at Monticello after spending two seasons at Southwest Mississippi Junior College.

Marrio Norman, Ht. 6'0", Wt. 180 lbs., Coastal Carolina University - As a senior at Coastal Carolina University in 2008, Marrio Norman was a Preseason All-Big South Conference selection but only saw action in five games due to injury. Norman posted 14 total tackles in 2008 and recorded one interception with one blocked kick. Norman finished second on the team with six pass break-ups and finished third with seven passes defended.

As a junior in 2007, Norman started in seven of the eight games he played in splitting time at both safety and cornerback. Norman earned First Team All-Big South Conference honors after recording 53 total tackles and finishing first on the team in tackles per game (6.63). Norman also recorded five interceptions, the most by any player in the Big South Conference. Norman was named Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week after recording a school record three interceptions and a fumble recovery along with four total tackles against Presbyterian.

As a sophomore in 2006, Norman saw action in seven games, starting in four, and posted 25 total tackles with two tackles-for-loss. Norman recorded two interceptions and six pass break-ups in 2006, and recorded a season-best six total tackles in a win over Gardner-Webb. The Greenwood, South Carolina native was a two-year lettermen at Greenwood High School and was a two-time High School Sports Report All-State selection.

Emanuel White, Ht. 6'2", Wt. 210 lbs., University of Arkansas at Monticello - Emanuel White started for two seasons at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and as a senior in 2008 White played in 11 games and finished second on the team with 79 total tackles. White also recorded 1.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions and finished first on the team with eight pass break-ups in '08. As a junior in 2007, White played in 10 games and finished fourth on the team with 63 total tackles. White tied for a team-best two interceptions and he finished second with 11 pass break-ups in 2007.

Following his collegiate career at Arkansas - Monticello, White was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League on April 23, 2009. White was later released by the Eskimos during training camp on June 11, 2009. Before beginning his career at Arkansas - Monticello, the Lakeland, Florida native spent two seasons at Southwest Mississippi Junior College.
