West Texas Roughnecks News Release

MIDLAND, TX.: Everything was clicking for the West Texas Roughnecks (9-4) in a 92-6 win over the Arizona Adrenaline (1-12) on Saturday evening, June 4, at the Ector County Coliseum. Roughnecks starting QB K.J. Black threw for three touchdown passes, the Roughnecks defensive unit recorded 11 turnovers, and RB DeWayne Hogan set a Roughnecks team record by recording six rushing touchdowns. Hogan broke his own team record of five rushing touchdowns in a single game set back in 2009. The Roughnecks overall total of 92 points was the second-most points scored in a single game in team history falling just shy of the 97 point total set back in 2006 when the Roughnecks defeated the Corpus Christi Hammerheads 97-56 to win the Intense Football League Championship.

The Roughnecks controlled the game from the very start as LB Tray Hardaway recovered an Arizona fumble on the opening kickoff. RB DeWayne Hogan would account for the Roughnecks first three touchdowns by posting two four-yard touchdown runs and one three-yard score. With the Roughnecks leading 20-0, DL Jeramie Richardson would recover an Arizona fumble off a snap and return it 21 yards for a touchdown giving the Roughnecks a 27-0 lead after the first quarter.

The Roughnecks passing game would come into effect in the second quarter as QB K.J. Black connected with WR Wilson Kimble for a 27-yard touchdown pass, and with WR Eric Taylor for a 16-yard touchdown pass to give the Roughnecks a 40-0 lead. The Roughnecks defensive unit would post five fumble recoveries in the first half including two interceptions credited to DB Clarence Wright. The Roughnecks led Arizona at halftime 43-0.

DeWayne Hogan's impressive play continued on into the second-half as he scored on a three-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to give the Roughnecks a 49-0 lead. Following an interception from DB Derrick Boyd, Hogan would record his longest touchdown run of the evening with a 14-yard score to make it a 56-0 lead and tie his single game rushing touchdown record. Following Hogan's fifth touchdown run, Arizona would get on the scoreboard with a 36-yard touchdown pass from QB Dennis Havrilla to WR Lamont Reed, Jr. The Roughnecks closed out the third quarter with a 71-6 lead after QB K.J. Black connected with WR Wilson Kimble for a 14-yard touchdown pass and LB Eric Henri returned an interception for a 12-yard touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, Roughnecks WR Josh Floyd recorded a four-yard touchdown run to give the Roughnecks a 78-6 lead. With under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, RB DeWayne Hogan would break the Roughnecks single game rushing touchdown record on a five-yard score to extend the Roughnecks lead to 84-6. The Roughnecks final score of the game came on an Arizona fumble recovered in the end-zone for a touchdown by LB Tray Hardaway to make it 92-6 as the Roughnecks were able to convert a two-point conversion attempt following the score.

The West Texas Roughnecks will wrap up the 2011 regular season at home next week as they host the Amarillo Venom on Saturday, June 11 at the Ector County Coliseum. The Arizona Adrenaline will finish out the 2011 regular season at home next week against the Colorado Ice on Friday, June 10.
