Roughnecks K Zeke Arevalo Named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week

ODESSA, TX. : The Indoor Football League announced early afternoon on Wednesday, July 1 that Odessa Roughnecks kicker, Zeke Arevalo, was named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 16 of the regular season. Arevalo becomes the third Roughnecks player to be selected an IFL Player of the Week honoree this season after registering 11 points in the Roughnecks win over Corpus Christi back on June 27 by the score of 55-44. Arevalo (5'8", 180 lbs.) was 2-for-2 in field goals (26 & 27 yards) and he was 5-of-7 in extra point attempts.

Arevalo has gone 10 of 26 (38%) in field goal attempts this season and 48 of 67 (72%) in extra point attempts. At one point this season, Arevalo made 14 consecutive extra points from the Roughnecks game versus Wichita on May 23 until the Roughnecks game versus the Abilene Ruff Riders on June 13. Arevalo played his college ball at St. Mary's.

The two previous Roughnecks selections for IFL Player of the Week came on Week 10 of the IFL regular season. WR Eric Taylor captured Offensive Player of the Week after catching eight passes for 125 yards and three touchdowns against the San Angelo Stampede Express back on May 16. In that same game in which the Roughnecks defeated San Angelo, 47-43, LB Arthur Harris won Defensive Player of the Week after collecting 11.5 total tackles including 0.5 tackle for loss and one interception.
