FC Tulsa News Release
Tulsa Roughnecks FC will be home Saturday night to play arguably the biggest match in club history. Tulsa has a chance to do something on Saturday that it has never done, and that is clinch a berth in the USL Cup playoffs. The Roughnecks will host Seattle Sounders 2 at ONEOK Field in the next-to-last game of the regular season with a win guaranteeing their spot in the postseason rounds.
The match will be Team Poster Night with the first 500 fans receiving the second edition of a Roughnecks two-poster set. This edition will feature Head Coach David Vaudreuil, captain Juan Pablo Caffa, goalkeeper Fabian Cerda and defender Kosuke Kimura and is given away courtesy of FOX23 and Mix 96. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The Roughnecks will enter the contest on a two-game losing streak after losing at home last Saturday to San Antonio, and dropping a tough 4-3 result to Phoenix Rising late Wednesday night.
It will be the second of two meetings this season between the two sides with TRFC posting a 1-0 win in Seattle on August 30.
The Roughnecks have never lost to Sounders 2, recording a perfect 4-0-0 all-time record against Seattle.
Tulsa currently has 43 points on the season with a 13-13-4 record. There are a couple of scenarios that could put the Roughnecks into the playoffs. The simplest route would be to gain a victory in either of their two final regular season matches. They could also clinch a postseason berth if both Orange County and Colorado Springs were to lose one of their last two matches. TRFC will close the regular season next Saturday night by hosting the Switchbacks in Tulsa.
Sounders 2 have been eliminated from the playoff picture with 31 points from a 9-16-4 record. They are winless in their last five games, gaining just two draws against three losses since a 2-1 victory over rivals Portland Timbers 2 on August 17.
Following Saturday's game, the Post-Match Party will take place at the Busch Scoreboard Bar with fans of all ages getting the chance to meet with Roughnecks players and coaches.
Tickets for the match are currently available over the telephone at (918)744-5901 or in person at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office.
