Edmonton, AB - Curtis Dickson scored the game-winning goal, his seventh of the night, four minutes into overtime lifting the Calgary Roughnecks to a 14-13 victory over the Edmonton Rush Saturday evening at Rexall Place.
The Roughnecks held the advantage after the opening 30 minutes, taking a 7-6 lead into the second half. For Dickson, his seven-goal performance marked a regular season career high, while Dane Dobbie (1g, 6a) and Daryl Veltman (1g, 6a) also finished the game with seven points each. Shawn Evans had a hat trick and three assists, while one-goal contributions came from Jeff Shattler and Geoff Snider as Calgary handed Edmonton their first home loss of the season.
Mark Matthews (3g, 1a), Curtis Corbeil (3g, 1a), Robert Church (2g, 2a) and Curtis Knight (1g, 3a) all recorded four-point efforts for the Rush. Zack Greer (2), Jarrett Davis and Jeff Cornwall also scored for Edmonton in the setback.
Calgary goaltender Frankie Scigliano, making his first start of the season, turned aside 28 of 40 shots he faced, while Mike Poulin made 10 saves in relief. Aaron Bold had 33 stops for Edmonton.
The Roughnecks now improve to 11-6 and will wrap up the 2014 NLL regular season against the Vancouver Stealth (4-12) on Saturday, April 26, with an 8:00 p.m. MT faceoff at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, BC.
