Roughnecks Down Defending Champion Knighthawks

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks extended their winning streak to three games, defeating the two-time defending NLL champion Rochester Knighthawks 11-10 Saturday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Dane Dobbie led the Roughnecks with three goals and two assists to surpass 400 career NLL points. Dobbie, a seven-year NLL veteran, has played his entire NLL career with Calgary. Curtis Dickson had two goals and two assists, while Daryl Veltman scored one goal and set up three others. Jeff Shattler (2g, 1a), Karsen Leung (1g, 1a), Curtis Manning (1g) and Garrett McIntosh (1g) also scored for the Roughnecks who improve to 5-3 on the season.

Cody Jamieson paced the Knighthawks attack with two goals and five assists, while Stephen Keogh (3g, 2a) and Joel McCready (1g, 4a) both posted five-point efforts for the visitors. Joe Walters and Johnny Powless each added a pair of goals in the loss.

Calgary goaltender Mike Poulin made 39 saves in the win, while Matt Vinc turned aside 32 of 43 shots for Rochester in defeat.

The Roughnecks will wrap up a three-game homestand on Saturday, Mar. 1 when the Toronto Rock (4-4) visit the Scotiabank Saddledome for Cardel Ruckus in the Rough House, in support of minor lacrosse and the Lacrosse Army. Game time is 7:00 p.m., with the Roughnecks tailgate party opening two hours before face-off and continuing post-game in Dutton's Canadian Lounge. Pre and post-game events are open to all ages.
