Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Langley, BC - With a 14-13 win over the Vancouver Stealth on Saturday evening at the Langley Events Centre, the Calgary Roughnecks have advanced to the post-season for the 13th consecutive year, finishing the regular season third in the West Division with a 7-11 record.
The Roughnecks, who fell behind 4-0 early in the opening quarter, used a strong seven-goal third quarter to enter the final frame with a 12-9 lead.
Jeff Shattler (4g, 4a) led the Roughnecks with eight points while Shawn Evans recorded three goals and four assists to finish the 2015 campaign with career highs in goals (47), assists (83) and points (130). Evans' 83 helpers eclipses the franchise assist record of 80, which he set in 2013, and matches the single-season NLL record Toronto Rocks' Josh Sanderson established last night as both players surpassed the previous mark of 82, set by Garrett Billings in 2012.
Curtis Dickson, with one goal and five helpers, turned in a six-point effort for Calgary while Karsen Leung (2), Dane Dobbie, Curtis Manning, Sean Pollock and Geoff Snider also scored in the win.
The Stealth were led by Rhys Duch who scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 12. Duch finished the night with six goals and two assists for eight points.
Frankie Scigliano made 33 saves to record the win as Calgary outshot Vancouver 65-46.
The Roughnecks will now travel to Denver to face the Colorado Mammoth in the West Division semifinal on Saturday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Pepsi Center.
