
Roughnecks Announce the Renaming of Dance Team

The West Texas Roughnecks have announced on Wednesday, September 1 that the organization has officially changed the name of the West Texas Roughnecks Dance Team to the West Texas Dolls. It is the first time in the history of the organization that the Roughnecks Dance Team will be formerly referred to as the West Texas Dolls. The West Texas Roughnecks will make further announcements in regards to tryouts for the West Texas Dolls at a later time. Further updates and announcements in regards to the West Texas Junior Dolls will additionally be made at a later time.
ROUGHNECKS TO ATTEND IFL LEAGUE MEETINGS - Representatives of the West Texas Roughnecks Team Ownership and Front Office will be attending the annual Indoor Football League Fall League Meetings starting Wednesday, September 8 in Chicago, Illinois. Various topics will be discussed throughout the duration of the IFL League Meetings and the Roughnecks will additionally be on hand to receive an IFL League Award.
FORMER ROUGHNECKS WR ARMSTRONG LOOKING TO END PRESEASON STRONG IN WASH. - As the end of the 2010 NFL preseason nears former Roughnecks wide receiver Anthony Armstrong will look to make his mark in the Washington Redskins active roster in the Redskins final preseason match-up against the Arizona Cardinals. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 10:00 P.M. ET on Thursday, September 2 and Armstrong has become a pleasant surprise for the Redskins this preseason by leading the team with seven receptions and ranking second with 101 receiving yards.
Armstrong (5'11", 185 lbs.) has been a journeyman throughout professional football with the Roughnecks organization being the first stop. Armstrong was an important factor in the Roughnecks offense in 2006 by helping the club finish 12-2 in the regular season and capturing the IFL (Intense Football League) Championship with a 97-56 win over Corpus Christi in Intense Bowl II. Armstrong finished third on the team in '06 with 55 receptions for 760 yards and 18 touchdowns. Armstrong's journey continued on to the AFL with the Dallas Desperados in 2007 & 2008 and shortly after the Miami Dolphins. Armstrong was signed to the Redskins in 2009 and added to the practice squad after being waived by the Dolphins before the start of the 2009 season.
