Rosters Set for 2010-11 NBA Development League Regular Season
November 18, 2010 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
NEW YORK, November 18, 2010 â Following are the 2010-11 opening day rosters for all 16 NBA Development League Teams. The NBA D-League's 10th season begins tonight, when the defending champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers host the Texas Legends at 8 p.m.
Also highlighting the 2010 NBA D-League season are two new rules changes: incorporating the goaltending rule used in international competition and shortening overtime periods. The new goaltending rule follows the standard used in the international game that allows a player to knock the ball away when it is on the rim. Prior to this season, the NBA D-League used NBA goaltending rules, which prohibit players from touching the ball when it is on the cylinder. Overtime periods in the NBA D-League this year will be three minutes in duration, down from the five minutes of previous seasons.
NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE ON NBA TV
NBA TV tipped off its extensive coverage of the NBA Development League with an hour-long preview show breaking down all 16 teams on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. ET. Rick Kamla hosted the special and was joined in studio by NBA D-League President Dan Reed and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Alpert. The network will then air the first edition of NBA D-League Central, a half-hour weekly show hosted by NBA TV's Rick Kamla featuring highlights, recaps, and interviews from around the league, beginning Saturday, Nov. 27 at 12:30 p.m. ET.
NBA TV's 34-game NBA D-League game schedule will begin on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. ET (matchup to be announced). The highlight of the calendar will be the network's whistle-to-whistle coverage of the NBA D-League Showcase from Jan. 10 to 13, when the network presents eight games live.
