Cleveland Cavaliers Assign Eyenga to NBA D-League Affiliate Erie BayHawks

NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2010 - Cleveland Cavaliers guard/forward Christian Eyenga was assigned to the Erie BayHawks, the Cavaliers' NBA D-League affiliate, it was announced today. The assignment marks the fourth time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Eyenga, a native of The Democratic Republic of Congo.

Eyenga (6-5, 210) appeared in six preseason games for Cleveland, averaging 4.3 points while going 10-for-16 from the field in 11.3 minutes per game. He was selected in the first round (30th overall pick) by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2009 NBA Draft, and spent the 2009-10 season with DKV Joventut Badalona of the Spanish ACB, averaging 3.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 29 games. He also participated in the EuroCup games with DKV, where he averaged 3.4 points and 1.2 rebounds in 11 games.

Eyenga played 19 games on the DKV Joventut Badalona U20 team and participated in training camp with U18 team. Eyenga also played in the African Championships in Angola and was a member of the Democractic Republic of Congo National Team in 2007. He was a participant in the NBA's Basketball Without Borders (Africa) program in 2006.
