Rortvedt Leads 21-Hit Attack, Miracle Sweep

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle pounded out 21 hits and completed a three-game sweep of the Clearwater Threshers with a 12-7 victory on Sunday afternoon at Spectrum Field.
Every starter recorded at least two hits. Ben Rortvedt led the attack with a 4-for-5 day, including a home run, two doubles, and a single. He drove in three runs and scored three. Trevor Larnach added three hits and three runs batted in.
The Miracle trailed 2-0, but scored four times in the third inning and never looked back. Larnach tied the game with a two-run single. Travis Blankenhorn and Michael Helman drove in the other runs in the frame. Blankenhorn extended his hitting streak to nine games earlier in the contest.
Fort Myers added two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 9-2 lead. Ryan Costello hit the second home run of the game for the Miracle, a two-run shot in the eighth inning.
Akil Baddoo reached three times and drove in a pair. The Miracle went 8-for-19 with runners in scoring position. The three-game sweep was their first on the road since June of 2016 at Palm Beach.
Charlie Barnes (1-1) earned the win for the Miracle. He allowed five runs on six hits in 5.2 innings with two walks and four strikeouts.
The six-game road trip continues on Monday for the Miracle with the first of three against the St. Lucie Mets. The game will be played at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach. Right-hander Randy Dobnak will start for the Miracle. First pitch is 6:42 p.m.
