January 24, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced Monday that Rockford IceHogs rookie winger Chaz Johnson was awarded the UHL's Sher-Wood Player of the Week for Week 14 of the 2005-06 regular season. Johnson is the second Hogs skater to earn the weekly honor as Billy Tibbetts was awarded for his play during Week 6.
Johnson netted 4g-4a-8pts in the Hogs' four games last week with a plus/minus rating of +5. The first-year skater had three points (1g-2a) in Rockford's 5-4 win over Fort Wayne on Wednesday and three points (1g-2a) in the Hogs' 3-2 victory over the Flint Generals on Saturday. On Friday Johnson added his first career mutli-goal game when he lit the lamp twice in Rockford's 5-1 win over the Port Huron Flags.
Overall this season, Johnson has 12g-14a-26pts in 37 games. Johnson's 155 penalty minutes ranks him second on the Hogs. The Montreal, Quebec native is one of 11 IceHogs skaters to get loaned to the American Hockey League this season. With his linemates Yannick Tifu and Robin Big Snake, the combination forms one of the most exciting young lines in the league.
